How do I choose the right helmet size for a child’s head circumference?

The Kids Bike Helmet Set listing gives size S as 48–54 cm and size M as 54–58 cm, but it doesn’t explain which size to choose at the shared 54 cm boundary. Kids Bike Helmet Set, CPSC Certified with Knee… Measure your child’s head with a flexible tape around its widest part, just above the eyebrows, then compare the result with the stated range. Bike helmets for kids and children Top Picks from 70+ Tested

Age alone isn’t a reliable sizing guide because children’s heads differ, so a measurement is more useful than an age label. Best Bike Helmets for Kids 2025 For context, the Thousand Jr. is listed for 45–49 cm, while the Giro Scamp II is listed for 44–49 cm in XS and 49–53 cm in S. The listing’s claimed ABS shell and shock-absorbing foam don’t by themselves establish certification or demonstrated performance. Kids Bike Helmet Set, CPSC Certified with Knee… The available details also don’t show a certification label or independent verification for this specific set. A Cyclist's Safety Guide – The Beam Before use, check the helmet’s label and instructions for the applicable certification and fit guidance. A Cyclist's Safety Guide – The Beam In practical terms, the Kids Bike Helmet Set’s certification wording is a claim to verify, not evidence supplied in the listing that the individual helmet has been independently checked. Kids Bike Helmet Set, CPSC Certified with Knee… A Cyclist's Safety Guide – The Beam The listing alone leaves that point unresolved, so don’t treat the construction description as a substitute for checking the label. How should I adjust the helmet straps and fit system so the helmet sits securely?
