What is the TACHYON mini, and what is its built-in 256GB storage used for?

The TACHYON mini is a shooting action camera with built-in WiFi and an app for iOS and Android. Tachyon GunCam Sport Shooting. – GunCam The product is offered with 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB of built-in memory. Sports Shooting Packages, IPSC, IDPA, USPSA… The storage is for recording video, and the manufacturer lists the 256GB option as capable of recording 12 hours. Sports Shooting Packages, IPSC, IDPA, USPSA…

That 12-hour figure is a manufacturer claim, not a verified recording result. The Amazon product description presents the TACHYON mini as a hat-, helmet-, or cap-mounted camera for practical shooting and names an auto-stop feature. TACHYON mini Built-in 256GB and WiFi. 2K or 4K… Another listing says recording can be stopped automatically or manually for each stage. Tachyon GunCam Sport Shooting. – GunCam Those details point to stage recording as the intended use, but the sources don’t establish how auto-stop behaves in every situation. The TACHYON mini’s listed storage options give you a choice of capacity; they don’t, by themselves, verify how much video a particular unit will hold in practice.

Does the TACHYON mini record in 2K, 4K, or both, and what are the available video resolutions?

The TACHYON mini is offered in either 2K or 4K video resolution, according to the product sources. Tachyon GunCam Sport Shooting. – GunCam The available information doesn’t specify additional resolution settings or clearly map settings to each version. 4K Video Camera with built-in Wifi and App.

That distinction matters: a product family described as available in 2K or 4K isn’t the same as evidence that one individual unit records in both resolutions. The manufacturer describes the camera as recording in either 2K or 4K. Sports Shooting Packages, IPSC, IDPA, USPSA… So you should treat the wording as a choice between versions unless the specific listing for the configuration you’re considering says otherwise. The TACHYON mini’s sources don’t provide a detailed resolution menu, nor do they state which other settings are available within either version. There’s also no independent video sample or test result in the supplied evidence. The practical answer is that 2K and 4K are the listed options, while finer detail about individual settings remains unavailable.

What are the differences in resolution, frame rate, and recording time between the 2K and 4K TACHYON mini models?

The available sources identify 2K and 4K versions of the TACHYON mini but provide no model-by-model frame-rate comparison. Tachyon GunCam Sport Shooting. – GunCam They also don’t provide a separate recording-time comparison for the two resolution versions; the listed durations are tied to memory capacity instead. Sports Shooting Packages, IPSC, IDPA, USPSA…

For storage, the manufacturer lists 3 hours for 64GB, 6 hours for 128GB, and 12 hours for 256GB. Sports Shooting Packages, IPSC, IDPA, USPSA… Those figures don’t say whether a 2K model lasts longer than a 4K model, or whether their frame rates differ. Nor do they establish how resolution or frame rate affects the runtime of a recording session. No independent test results are provided for either model. As a buyer, you can confirm that the product family includes both resolution options, but you can’t use the available sources to make a reliable side-by-side judgment about frame rate or recording duration. The TACHYON mini’s resolution-specific performance remains unknown.

How does the TACHYON mini’s built-in WiFi connect to the Tachyon app on iOS and Android?

The TACHYON mini’s built-in WiFi and app are listed as supporting video preview, playback, and downloads to iOS and Android devices. Sports Shooting Packages, IPSC, IDPA, USPSA… The app can also play videos at normal speed or in slow motion. Tachyon GunCam Sport Shooting. – GunCam

Those are useful stated functions if you want to review or transfer footage on a mobile device. But the supplied sources describe what the app can do, not how to pair it: they don’t provide step-by-step WiFi connection instructions. They also don’t specify a supported phone model or explain the pairing process. The TACHYON mini’s WiFi and app support are therefore clear at a feature level, while the setup procedure remains unavailable in the evidence provided. If the exact connection process matters to you before buying, the listing and manufacturer information here don’t answer that question. The claimed app features are specifications, not results from an independent connection test.

How much video can the built-in 256GB memory store, and can recordings be transferred to a phone or computer?

The manufacturer lists the TACHYON mini’s 256GB version as capable of recording 12 hours of video. Sports Shooting Packages, IPSC, IDPA, USPSA… That is a listed estimate, not an independently verified recording or transfer result. The same manufacturer source gives 3 hours for 64GB and 6 hours for 128GB. Sports Shooting Packages, IPSC, IDPA, USPSA…

For mobile transfers, the app is listed as supporting downloads to iOS and Android devices. Sports Shooting Packages, IPSC, IDPA, USPSA… The package also includes a USB-to-USB-C cable and adapter for downloads to Mac and PC. Sports Shooting Packages, IPSC, IDPA, USPSA… This gives you two stated transfer routes: through the app to a mobile device, or by cable and adapter to a computer. The evidence doesn’t report transfer speeds, describe file handling, or confirm how long a real-world transfer takes. The TACHYON mini’s 12-hour capacity should therefore be read as the manufacturer’s estimate for the 256GB option, not a promise established by testing.

The listed TACHYON mini with built-in 256GB storage costs $349.99 on the manufacturer’s store page. 4K Video Camera with built-in Wifi and App. Amazon lists a 128GB version for $299.99 and a 64GB listing described as offering 2K or 4K for $199.99. Amazon.com

These prices compare storage configurations, not matching 2K and 4K models. The available information doesn’t establish whether the $199.99 listing is specifically the 2K or 4K version, or provide two otherwise identical configurations at different resolutions. That means you can’t draw a direct 2K-versus-4K price comparison from these figures. The TACHYON mini price information also doesn’t establish that the listings share identical specifications beyond the details stated for each. Check the specific configuration and resolution named on the listing you’re considering; the evidence here doesn’t support a resolution-based price premium.

How long does the TACHYON mini record on one charge, and can it record while charging?

The manufacturer’s store page says the TACHYON mini can record up to 20 two-minute stages or 40 one-minute stages per charge. 4K Video Camera with built-in Wifi and App. Another manufacturer source says it can record more than 20 two-minute stages or more than 40 one-minute stages per charge. Sports Shooting Packages, IPSC, IDPA, USPSA…

Those claims differ: one says “up to,” while the other says “more than.” The supplied evidence doesn’t resolve the discrepancy, so neither figure should be treated here as a verified runtime. The sources also don’t say whether the camera can record while charging. That feature is unavailable in the information provided. The stage-based battery claims may help you understand how the manufacturer describes use, but they aren’t a measured battery test and don’t specify the conditions behind the figures. For the TACHYON mini, recording while connected to power remains an open question, not a confirmed capability.

Is the TACHYON mini waterproof or weather-resistant, and what accessories are needed to mount it for shooting?

The listed TACHYON mini includes Cap Mount and Bill Mount options. Tachyon GunCam Sport Shooting. – GunCam The manufacturer says the Bill Mount clip can attach above or below a cap’s bill, while the Cap Mount is used on the cap itself. Sports Shooting Packages, IPSC, IDPA, USPSA…

The sources also describe a Rainproof Cover that protects the camera from rain, dust, or static shock. Sports Shooting Packages, IPSC, IDPA, USPSA… That description supports saying a protective cover is listed; it doesn’t support calling the camera waterproof. No waterproof rating is provided in the available information. The manufacturer’s mounting description gives you a basic sense of where the included mounts attach, but it doesn’t state whether the package includes additional mounts for every helmet or hat style. The TACHYON mini is also described as mounting to a shooting cap. Tachyon GunCam Sport Shooting. – GunCam If weather protection or a particular mounting setup is essential, the evidence here doesn’t establish more than the listed cover and mount functions.
