What type of camera is the Canon EOS R3, and what Canon RF lens mount does it use?

The Canon EOS R3 is a full-frame, high-end mirrorless camera aimed at sports, wildlife, and photojournalism. Canon EOS R3 Initial Review That positioning makes its speed and subject-tracking specifications especially relevant if you photograph action, though the available claims describe specifications rather than independent test results.

The camera uses Canon’s RF lens mount. Canon EOS R3 Initial Review The Amazon product is explicitly listed as the body-only Canon EOS R3 Mirrorless Camera, so the listing does not establish that a lens comes with it. Canon EOS R3 Mirrorless Camera (Body Only) Its displayed price is $4,399, and its availability is listed as In Stock. Canon EOS R3 Mirrorless Camera (Body Only)

How many megapixels does the Canon EOS R3 have, and what sensor size does it use?

The Canon EOS R3 has a 24.1-megapixel full-frame stacked CMOS sensor. Canon EOS R3 Initial Review That is the useful specification to keep in view when deciding whether its resolution suits your work; a megapixel figure alone doesn’t establish image quality in every shooting condition.

The EOS R5 has a 45MP sensor, so its higher pixel count may matter if you prioritize cropping flexibility or resolving more detail. Canon EOS R3 Initial Review The trade-off is straightforward on paper: the R3 pairs a lower-resolution sensor with a faster electronic-shutter burst rate than the R5. Canon EOS R3 Initial Review Whether that balance works for you depends on what you photograph and how much resolution your output requires.

The Amazon listing claims low-light performance, but that claim has not been independently verified in the available evidence. Canon EOS R3 Mirrorless Camera (Body Only) The sources provide sensor specifications, not comparative test results establishing how the R3 performs against another camera in your particular lighting conditions.

How much does the Canon EOS R3 body cost, and how does its price compare with the Canon EOS R5?

The Amazon listing prices the Canon EOS R3 body-only camera at $4,399. Canon EOS R3 Mirrorless Camera (Body Only) That is the listing price, not a price for a kit with a lens.

For context, a source reported a $5,999 recommended launch price for the EOS R3 and a $3,900 price for the EOS R5. Canon EOS R3 Initial Review Those are source-reported comparison figures, not the Amazon listing price for either camera. The available evidence doesn’t establish a current EOS R5 price, so it would be misleading to treat the comparison figure as its current cost.

The $4,399 R3 listing sits above the cited $3,900 R5 figure. Canon EOS R3 Initial Review One specification difference relevant to that comparison is burst speed: the R3 is listed at up to 30 frames per second, against 20 frames per second for the R5. Canon EOS R3 vs R5 – The 10 Main Differences That distinction may matter if you prioritize capturing rapid action; it doesn’t by itself establish that the R3 is the better value for every buyer.

What are the Canon EOS R3’s key autofocus, burst-shooting, and video specifications?

The Canon EOS R3 is specified for bursts of up to 30 frames per second with its electronic shutter and 12 frames per second with its mechanical shutter. Canon Finally Unleashes the EOS R3 Mirrorless… Those are published maximum rates, not results from testing described here.

Its autofocus system is reported to recognize people, animals, and motorsport subjects. Canon EOS R3 Initial Review Another specification lists 1,053 selectable phase-detection autofocus points and recognition for eyes, faces, heads, animals, and vehicles. Canon Finally Unleashes the EOS R3 Mirrorless… The figures describe the system’s features; the available evidence doesn’t quantify how consistently it tracks a subject in particular conditions.

Video options include 6K 60p raw and uncropped 4K 120p recording. Canon Finally Unleashes the EOS R3 Mirrorless… Full HD recording at 240 frames per second is listed as enabled by a firmware update. What can the EOS R3 do? Those modes offer a range of recorded formats and frame rates, but the specifications alone don’t establish recording duration, workflow requirements, or the results you’ll get in a particular production.

We Review the Powerful Canon EOS R3 Mirrorless… Those examples don’t establish compatibility details for every Canon lens, so check the specific lens rather than assuming the list covers every option.

The camera has one CFexpress Type B slot and one UHS-II SD card slot. Canon EOS R3 Initial Review Raw capture and 4K/120 recording require a CFexpress card rated over 400 MB/s, according to the cited specification. Canon EOS R3 Initial Review That requirement makes card choice dependent on the recording mode you intend to use.

The available sources don’t establish compatibility details for every card model. They also don’t identify which card you should buy for a particular workflow beyond the stated speed requirement for raw capture and 4K/120 recording. Canon EOS R3 Initial Review
