How do you measure a child's head and check that a bike helmet fits correctly?

Measure your child’s head before selecting the Kids Bike Helmet size: use a soft tape around the widest part, slightly above the ears and about an inch above the eyebrows. Size Chart by Age + Fit Guide (6 Steps) A flexible tape or cord can be used for the measurement. Kids Helmet | Boys & Girls Bike Helmet Then compare the circumference with the product’s size information; this listing specifies 50–54 cm for its small set. Once on the child’s head, a helmet should sit squarely, cover the upper forehead, and remain parallel to the ground. Bike Helmets for Kids: Parent FAQs The listing claims adjustable straps, but the supplied details don’t explain how to adjust or test this helmet’s retention system. What safety certifications should you look for when buying a children's bicycle helmet?

For a bicycle helmet sold for use in the United States, look for the CPSC label inside the helmet. Bike Helmets for Kids: Parent FAQs Size Chart by Age + Fit Guide (6 Steps) The available Kids Bike Helmet listing details don’t identify a certification, so this review can’t confirm that it meets CPSC or another standard. Kids Bike Helmet, Toddler Helmet for Youth… That missing information matters: the listing’s general claim about impact resistance doesn’t establish compliance with a named safety standard. Kids Bike Helmet, Toddler Helmet for Youth…

There is a clearer manufacturer statement for comparison: Thousand says the Jr. complies with the U.S. CPSC bicycle helmet standard and lists CE, CPSC, and ASTM certification for cycling, roller skating, and skateboarding. Kids Helmet | Boys & Girls Bike Helmet For this set, don’t infer certification from its marketing for multiple activities or from its stated construction. Kids Bike Helmet, Toddler Helmet for Youth… Check the label on the helmet itself; the supplied listing information isn’t enough to verify what appears there. How do hard-shell, soft-shell, and MIPS-equipped kids' helmets differ in protection, weight, and ventilation?

The Kids Bike Helmet listing describes a PVC and PC shell, EPS foam, and multiple vents, and it claims impact resistance and cooling benefits. Those performance claims aren’t independently verified in the supplied information. Kids Bike Helmet, Toddler Helmet for Youth… Hard-shell helmets have an outer shell described as helping shield against sharp-object penetration, but they tend to be heavier and warmer than soft-shell models. Bike Helmets for Kids: Parent FAQs Soft-shell helmets use thick polystyrene without a hard outer shell; they’re described as lighter, though potentially less durable. Which kids' bike helmets offer useful features such as adjustable fit systems, lights, or reflective details?
